Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet’s AW18 presentation is about revolution, reflecting on the past to understand the present and to change the future.

Set in Bendet’s AO University, the importance of education is messaged through a series of vignettes representing revolutionary moments in history and the women who have played pivotal roles in those times. Bendet said, “By looking at the women’s movements past and present, I wanted this presentation to pay homage to strong women throughout history, to show how far we have come and how far we still need to go. The show is meant to uplift and inspire women today.”

The looks for the season are empowering and powerful. The rainbow colour palette of red, turquoise, gold and purple is mixed with metallic plaids and leopard prints. Rococo-inspired ruffles are styled back to fringed and studded leather. Colourful sequin stripes make a bold statement in matching sets. Elements of edgy western-wear in leather with stud and fringe detailing get romantic with ornate lace and ruffle blouses, indicating rebellion, revolution and the force of femininity.
