Paris during the Haute Couture week is mad, take our word for it. The countless shows and never-ending running around with parties to wrap up each day are definitely set to tire even the most enthusiastic fashionista out there. However, we popped by a few design houses to preview their Resort as well as Pre-Spring Summer 2017 collections just for you, dear Velveteers.
This is the first time Hermès allowed the press to preview their Resort collection during the PFW. Obviously, we had to be there! While the overall pieces are definitely Hermès, with the micro attention to detail, the highlights were no doubt the silk scarf pieces made of a single sheet of fabric. The collection was dominated by the high-waisted, wide-volume trousers, muted browns and beige tones, with an occasional splash of red and turquoise-green, featuring the reworked silk prints from the Hermès archives. Our heart was totally stolen by the dark asphalt lambskin frilled coat (left) – a total gem.
Veronique is back and back with force. Her Resort 2017 collection is simple, with a major focus on detail, where stitching, fit and lacework take the centerstage. The collection features beautifully-pleated skirts that flow with a sense of perfection with every move. Kaftans are adorned with extra wide-shouldered sleeves while some pieces include cape design that is set to add some drama to the overall look. We think this is a great collection for any market in the world, however, we think it is beautifully-suited for the Middle Eastern market in particular.
Having a chat with someone as inspiring and internationally-acclaimed as Alithia Spuri-Zampetti in between the shows is a privilege on its own; viewing the Pre-Spring 2017 collection with her is just perfect. Since joining Paule Ka, Alithia Spuri-Zampetti has been introducing the direction that is fun, playful and yet essentially Paule Ka. The collection features gowns and two-pieces that are flexible in a sense that they can take you from day to night without much effort. We particularly liked the scarf motif with fabric gently flowing over the shoulder to the hip.All in all, this collection is very fresh, yet sophisticated enough to wear on a busy day or a glamorous evening.
