Hend Sabry’s celebrity status didn’t happen overnight. When she started out acting, she had the choice of either staying in Tunisia and doing critically acclaimed movies that no one outside Tunisia would watch, or take the plunge and move to Egypt- starting from scratch. Inevitably, that’s what she done, she moved to Egypt and took on one small role after another, and in the process, she kept reaffirming that she had more to offer. The roles Hend took at the beginning of her career were very different from the ones she has done most recently. Actors, are like children; they want to be loved by everyone and be remembered forever. That’s why they choose to make movies because movies last a lifetime. Meaning, being a star that left a mark on her generation, on her audience- being remembered for something good is most important.
Hend, who is a mother of two daughters, is no longer the tough single-minded woman she once was, but now a proud mother, juggling motherhood and a career, realising her decisions and dedication will inspire her own daughters as well as a generation.
This means she chooses her roles very carefully and it probably explains why they have all been very successful. As a result, Sabry has managed to strike the perfect balance between work and family, and being the ultimate role-model for our generation, setting the bar-high for the coming generations.
Not only has she won prestigious awards from the Lebanese Murex d’or, as well as National Egyptian Film Festival, to Tyche Jordan. She has made waves in Europe too, specifically at the Valencia Film Festival, and Rotterdam Arab Film Festival- where she was awarded for her various charismatic roles. However, what puts her at the forefront of our generation, and earned herself the title of a ‘household’ name is by being a Lawyer, a passionate UN Goodwill Ambassador for WFP, as well as the pretty face of Garnier Middle East, to most recently being part of the Jury of the IWC Filmmaker Award at Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
Proven she is a tough woman and act to follow, success seems endless for Hend Sabry and her amazing roles and accolades. As a household name and star role-model, we predict a legendary career from her, and an ambitious wave from the younger generation whom she inspires.
