Tory Burch’s Resort 19’ collection, was inspired by all the things that she loves. Stripes, done in different styles, including a 3-D version in pleats with contrast-colour edging, along with relaxed silhouettes. She states “There’s a nod to my favourite book, The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, in a watercolour print we have named Daydream. We updated the classics with special details- like the perfect white cotton shirt, now with a scalloped or elongated collar, or an easy denim dress, with a ruffled placket. Accessories continue the less-is-more mood: flat sandals and lemon and clementine-shaped pendants.”

Relaxed volume and elongated proportions set a laid-back tone for the season, as seen in skirts and dresses with longer hemlines, as well as slouchy trousers and pyjama dressing. An unstructured trench, sporty jackets and roomy knits round out the collection for a mood that is effortless and easy.

The colour palette is broad and varied, with neutrals, black, stone and agave, with a balanced spectrum of blues- pale mist, cerulean and navy, along with joyful pops of pink and gold. Stripes play a lead role, Breton stripes, awning, barn stripes, and embroidered stripes, feature throughout. Also, a graphic windowpane check carries a nostalgic appeal- while a charming watercolour print, inspired by The Little Prince, has painterly borders.

There are plays of texture throughout with embroidered embellishments, soft pleats and subtle smocking. Ruffle and lace accents bring femininity to this seasons collection.
