Weill

When he decided to join the family business in 2007, Elie Weill was twenty-five years old and had a brilliant academic record, having studied at Sciences-Po (political science), attended business school, and obtained a Master’s in Philosophy. However, the commitment to defend the heritage of Weill founded in 1892 by his forebear Albert Weill – required an intimate knowledge of its workings. “It is a great honour and privilege. I am the fifth generation of the Weill family taking care of the business.

It is a great and unique chance”, says Elie. The young man familiarised himself with all the departments, working in the warehouse, at interfacing, in design, and as a sales assistant, always ready to put into practise the values of quality, respect and good taste he had learned from his youngest age and which distinguished the label. When asked about the philosophy of the brand, Elie told us, “to embody the timeless Parisian chic. To offer women from all over the world our vision of elegance and sophistication.”

Today Elie is the Head of International Sales. In this capacity, he is promoting Weill’s brand of down-to-earth chic in an ever-growing global market. When asked about challeneges at work, he humbly states that being as great and performing as the previous generations and handing over the business to a sixth generation of Weill is still one of his biggest challenges.

This does not prevent him from regularly meeting with his father and uncle at the company headquarters at the foot of Montmartre in rue Livingstone, the firm’s historical and emblematic address in the heart of one of the most authentic Parisian neighbourhoods.

We asked Mr. Weil for a comment on this region and got, “This is a fantastic market. Women love and understand perfectly our vision of fashion. At the same time, we are listening very carefully to their needs. This market is really important to us and we believe we still have a great potential to keep on growing in the region.” Weill recently opened their store in Abu Dhabi with Dubai store on the way.
