Adrenalin, strength and freedom takes over, Sportmax Spring-Summer 2019 is inspired for the first time by the world of surf; from Biarritz to Hawaii, from the Italian coastline to the alchemy of sand and water, the new wave is here.
Sweeping us away in stories of dusty madras, ergonomic stripes, floaty prints and sunset shades. In dreams of the perfect wave. In the constant mixing of contemporary combinations: parka-shirts, jackets, rounded sweatshirts, knitted dresses and jersey pleats. As night descends slowly over the ocean, faux leather leggings pair with sweaters, wrapped up warm and made for moon watching. Waves of sequins embellish the long dresses.
The elements of water and wind flow throughout each other. With an accent on transparency, prints are in technical nylon, overlay effects feature mesmerising geometries and combinations of materials, all conspiring to create an energetic urban look. Tailoring takes a sensual path into the collection with close-fitting dresses, sleeveless waistcoats, wide trousers, tapered skirts and active poplin shirts. Meanwhile the parka is reversible, perfectly plain on one side and striped on the other. Turning inside-out reveals an inversion of geometries.
Swimwear and shorts borrow sizes and styles from the menswear wardrobe. Hand-crocheted elastic waistbands reveal boyfriend pants sculpted on the hips, the secret of a youthful look at any age.
The technical shrug jacket brings a dynamism, long at the front and short at the back. Necklines borrow from surf suits to mark the shoulders and the décolleté. Outwear oblige, the classic raincoat makes an appearance in a featherweight version of cotton and nylon.
Finally, with feet firmly on the deck, padded slippers are constructed in quality leather, sandals embellished with sophisticated cord. Mini bags, bucket bags, graceful backpacks. Beneath the streets of the city, sand and water lies the alchemy of Sportmax for this Spring-Summer 2019.
