Works by one of the most iconic figures in art history, Salvador Dali will take center stage at the Conference Hall in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates from 11th February until 22nd April 2018. The Exhibition sponsored by one of the leading banks in the UAE, Emirates NBD will showcase original works by the great master, a first for the region and a milestone for the Middle Eastern art scene.

Under the orchestration of Alpha Soul, an art and cultural development company based in the U.A.E, the one of a kind exhibition will feature lithographs, photographs and original paintings created by Dalي in his timeless style and fare all sourced from worldwide private collections from across the world. The exhibition reveals the spontaneity and creative consciousness of Dalي, from which he established masterpieces. One of many star pieces of the exhibition will be “Shower of Jasmine”, an exclusive oil on canvas painting that was first unveiled to the world in 1954 in New York City at Carstairs Gallery. After such, the piece has only been seen in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at Museum Nacional de Belas Artes. Since, the painting has been kept in a private collection and in Dubai, it will be visible to the public for only its 3rd time ever. Besides some of Dalي’s greatest paintings, photographs of the Spanish artist, taken by close friend and specialist of the master, Robert Descharnes (1926-2014), will also be revealed at the exhibition.

The photographs, which were selected by Nicolas Descharnes, Robert’s son, also an expert on the life and works of Dalي and a guest curator of the exhibition, show the Spanish icon, painter and visionary intimately working with his tools in the process of making what is now some of the most acknowledged art in the world. The pictures were taken throughout various workshops in Europe and the U.S and show the creative mood and environment in which Dalي used to work. Also seen in many of the pictures is Dalي’s longterm spouse, Gala Dalي. Ms. Dilyara Kamenova, Director of Alpha Soul. and Exhibiton Curator says, “We are excited to showcase for the first time such a powerful variety of the finest works of Salvador Dali to art aficionados in the Middle East.” Also, being exhibited over the two months is Dali’s ‘50 years after surrealism’ and the famous ‘Memories of Surrealism’ collection from 1971.

The ‘Memories of Surrealism’ is the master’s interpretation of Spanish printmaker Francisco Goya’s “Los Caprichos”, which will be placed next to the ‘Memories of Surrealism’ collection for the audience to experience Dali’s surrealist makeover of the original artwork. For the print art aficionados, extremely rare lithographs will also be on display. “Salvador Dali. The Memories” Exhibition is yet another endeavor of Alpha Soul to enrich the spirit of Dubai by promoting art, classical music and world-class speakers and partnerships with leading academics, private collectors and art professionals from around the world.” added Ms. Kamenov, Exhibition Curator.
