For the very first time in the Middle East, ‘Letters to Andy Warhol,’ an exhibition uncovering rarely-seen letters and artwork from the archives of The Andy Warhol Museum, is now open to the public at the Dubai Design District (D3). In collaboration with Cadillac, the artwork underscores Warhol’s love of iconic American brands and features some of Cadillac’s well-known models.

The exhibition opening was celebrated with a star-studded night and attended by Patrick Moore, the director of The Andy Warhol Museum, Cadillac executives and members of the art and design community in the UAE. Guests were taken on a guided tour inside the exhibition and given an expert insight to the stories narrated through the artwork.

Cadillac has played a unique part in Andy Warhol’s art and is synonymous with American culture.

Patrick Moore, the director of The Andy Warhol Museum, commented: “Our relationship with Cadillac, as a museum and as an integral part of the ‘Letters to Andy Warhol’ exhibition highlights Warhol’s idealization of the American dream in an iconic American brand. Warhol drew, and painted Cadillacs and the letters give an illuminating view into the world of a famously private individual. This is only the second time that the exhibition has left the US and the very first time in the Middle East; it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Warhol’s life and work to a brand-new audience.”

Christian Soemmer, Managing Director of Cadillac Middle East said, “Cadillac has played a unique part in Andy Warhol’s art and is synonymous with American culture. This collaboration gives us the opportunity to show Middle East fans Cadillac’s legacy with one of the world’s greatest pop artists.”

The artwork includes five pieces by Warhol himself, showcasing his intimate connection to the worlds of fashion, music, media, art, and celebrities. The exhibition also houses the creations of six modern day artists who used the letters to examine their own connection to Warhol’s legacy.

‘Letters to Andy Warhol’ is free to enter and is open to the public from 8th until the 16th of November, at Dubai Design District. Opening hours are from 12:00PM-9:00PM daily.
