Fresh from winning Designer of the Year 2017 at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2017, Alia Bastamam, her team and label have led a clear direction since the launch of the first collection in 2011. Eight years in the industry has placed Alia Bastamam amongst Malaysia’s leading fashion labels.

During the label’s formative years, creative director Alia Bastamam designed custom bridal gowns and made-to-measure creations from a humble workshop in Kuala Lumpur but has since seen her garments donned by countless important clientele and celebrities, on the runway and on the Red Carpet.

Over the years, the Alia Bastamam brand has expanded into three additional lines, including the high-end custom Alia Bastamam Atelier line, the Alia Bastamam Bridal collection and the Malaysia-exclusive diffusion label Alia B.

Alia B’s. Resort 18/19 collection, ‘City of Lights’, tells a story of a city that flows fast, and concrete heights pulsate a dash- the daily life of our Alia B. girl, a born and bred urbanite.

The collection is progressive, in the fact it goes from morning, day to night with different colour palettes, fabrics and concepts. The morning consists of; playful prints, khaki and olive green to deep-navy blues, bringing the fun factor to the city life.

All-white ensembles play a cool note for the daytime affair, like a goddess mini-dress or even a mannish sleeveless tuxedo jacket. A ‘Basta 2’ bag slung across her chest or clutched casually. For a weekday power lunch, she opts for power suiting reworked as luxe resort wear with a wrap blazer or, for a little flamboyance, skirts delighted by ruffles.
