TOD’s fall winter 2019 collection revolves around leather of course, a malleable material for a style that moulds around the individual. Nappa is used for the patent trenches, immaculate blazers, graceful skirts, shirts and trousers with a crisp boyish cut. Classic pieces are made feminine by combination with chunky ribbed knits featuring mediterranean flavoured jacquards and belts cinching volume in at the waist, tweaking even the duvets, which in the sleeveless version become a true urban passe-partout.
Featherlight glove leather is used for the dresses, whether flowing or with a drawstring at the waists. Animalier touches add a note of feral glamour. The sense of spontaneity and sophisticated immediacy is underscored by the warm and saturated color palette: a fusion of tan and camel tones graced by nuances of burgundy, powder pink, dense green and dusty blue, on a black base.
Speed and ease also characterize the accessories, sure sign of a sophisticated style juggling with the unexpected. The penny loafers have metal details, the boots and galoshes sport bulky soles. The d-styling, soft and unstructured without sacrificing the ladylike allure, is the bag of today and of tomorrow, along with buckets and tiny cross-body styles, the very essence of spontaneous and immediate sophistication.
