Ritornare A Casa- back to our place, where it all started, for Versace’s Pre-A/W 18 collection. Lie back, relax, and cause trouble. Know you’re in the place where all the dreaming happens: home sweet home.

The Pre-Fall 2018 women’s collection takes us to the very place Versace calls home- the noble Milanese palazzo, in Via Gesù. From its irresistible courtyard mosaics of the world’s first powerful feminine icons, The Medusa, to its timeless furnishing and rich décor, this family home has inspired many things. Now, it inspired a collection that takes us under the covers at the Versace Casa- its devoré velvet baroque, fine silk, and infamous print pillows.

The Silk print cushion, with mythological iconography and golden tassels, doubles over as the new Cuscino shoulder bag. An exaggerated puffer silhouette takes us into the bedroom, recreating a velvet duvet on outerwear, while fringes and tassels on ready-to-wear garments are inspired by Versace’s Home décor.

Prints are unleashed, such as animalier on lace, outerwear and accessories bring out an untamed alter ego. Leopards peering out from heritage prints, create a link between the very wild and mythological Versace worlds. The palazzo’s luxurious beating heart is translated into a Harlequin patterned print, that reimagines the entrance to Gianni’s private “Sala del Camino”. An unruly version of the Heritage print takes inspiration from an incidentally broken plate, a reminder of the realness of home- a place where things break, get mended, and where you can let your hair down and unleash your wild side.

Unexpected combinations of opulence is reinvented with irony. Mock croc printed on vinyl plays with a hi-low aesthetic, a Versace trademark. Croc is re-invented through embroidered Swarovski mini dresses, velvet devoré prints bring a typically noble feel to flirty evening wear. Neo-classical borders, so instantly recognizable as an iconic Versace signature, are used on ribbons in graphic lines. Medusa medallions feature on the top-stitching creates new necklines on day dresses, and adds a touch of iconic within the accessories.

Whereas the vintage logo comeback revamps the signature “more-is-more” mantra while creating a sporty all-over print featured on knit, nylon outerwear, denim and accessories, making it a trip down memory lane back to where it all started.
