The fashion houses of Chanel, Fendi (LVMH), and Karl Lagerfeld have collectively announced that a memorial service will be held for the late designer Karl Lagerfeld. At the age of 85, the iconic designer passed away on February 19th, leaving the world in shock- a pioneer in fashion, creativity and arts has left us.
The grand service, will be directed and designed by acclaimed theater, opera and artistic director, Robert Carson.
Robert goes on to state; “How can we celebrate the life of Karl Lagerfeld one of the most complete, dedicated and talented artists of the 20th and 21st centuries?” says Carson in a statement. “How can we celebrate this Renaissance man, who remained ahead of his time by taking inspiration from the past whilst always looking to the future? Through a tapestry of videos of him throughout his life, interwoven with numerous short interviews with many of the people whom he inspired and who worked with him in so many fields. And perhaps above all through the contribution of actors, musicians, and dancers whose work he admired, who were his friends and who will interpret some of the music and literature that he so loved.”
On June 20th, distinguished guests from all around the world, including the designer’s friends and family will pay tribute to his legacy and unprecedented creativity at the Grand Palais in Paris. The event which is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m- making it a true farewell to an Icon.
