Art aficionados went all out in the first-ever auction of fine art pieces by the region’s most renowned artists as Christie’s Dubai Sale showcased eight exceptional family collections from across Middle East. Led by an extensive group of Lebanese modernist pictures by Shafic Abboud from the Viviane and Robert Debbas Collection, the 122-lot auction of Modern and Contemporary Arab, Iranian, and Turkish Art held by Christie’s at the Emirates Towers Hotel last month. With the phenomenal quality, impeccable provenance, and freshness of the works of art, the auction was indeed a success.

The collection was composed of rare gems from a prominent Private Iranian Collection, the Dr. Farsi Collection, the Tobler family, the Hamed Ewais, Elie Kanaan, and Mahmoud Hammad Estates as well as a group of Modern Iraqi masterpieces from the Private Collection of the late Dr. Al-Qassab. Other artists whose work was also sold at the auction are Mahmoud Saïd, Paul Guiragossian, Fateh Moudarres, Parviz Tanavoli and Sohrab Sepehri and modern artisans Ayman Baalbaki, Hayv Kahraman, Rokni Haerizadeh, and Farhad Moshiri.
