Unlike his previous shows, Alexis Mabille went rather minimalistic for SS16 Haute Couture. Exercising his excellent ability to capture the feminine essence, the couturier drew his inspiration from the old Hollywood glamour divas. The collection mainly featured black, white and navy shades with majority of the attention going onto trying to figure out whether these are the garments to empower women or to be seduced by them.
Velvet, satin, crepe and embroidery – all support this confusion; the models represented strength and radiated lust. Whatever the original thought, we are pleasantly surprised with the outcome and look forward to seeing some of these pieces on red carpets in 2016.
