Enter India- that is the headline of the Elie Saab Haute Couture SS16 show; it describes a British woman of the early last century on a voyage to the great south-east Asian subcontinent. It is well-known that the Beirut-based virtuoso is very familiar with the eastern influences, however, it must be added that this season Elie Saab SS16 took his collection to a new level- an experimental, young and definitely unexpected approach to Haute Couture.

The metallic leather high boots, bigger and chunkier accessories, gorgeous shimmering caps and cropped jackets- dominated the usually-expected long gowns, adding a sense of invasion of something fun and playful into the traditionally-serious playground of Haute Couture. We especially liked the boots and the caps, which could well end up on many red carpets this year. This season, Elie Saab is playing with the notion of Haute Couture by injecting a more youthful and playful attitude into his collection.

In the end, did we Enter India? Not from the first instance, however we definitely felt the signature excitement and thrill one experiences on the streets of Mumbai and New Delhi.
