Readers of VELVET know by now that one of my favourite spots for relaxing has become Tips & Toes. As the largest salon and spa chain in the UAE, it continuously opens new branches across the UAE and beyond to make access even easier- with the latest ones opening in Dubai in The Springs Souk, Mira Town Centre, City Center Mirdif and even Khobar in Saudi Arabia. So, a question came to mind- do all the branches maintain the same level of Tips & Toes excellence that I have fallen in love with?

Today, after a grueling eight-hour day in front of a computer screen, my tense muscles were calling for a massage, so I made my way over to the Khalifa City Tips & Toes to check out their signature massage.

The Signature Massage

The Khalifa City branch was enormous- with five villas dedicated to various things including nails, hair, body treatments, and hammam. I had accidentally gone into the wrong one, so the team escorted me to the correct villa where my technician was patiently waiting.

The one thing that drew my attention right away is the overall sense of calm and serenity that took over me as soon as I stepped into the spa. Filled with soft lights, relaxing music, and decoration that mimics that of an outdoor garden at night, the place immediately made me feel more relaxed just by walking in.

After filling out a quick questionnaire, being taken to my room and given a few minutes to change, I lay face down on the massage table, curious to see what this signature massage would include- and boy, was I in for a treat. Over ninety minutes, the treatment included a mix of stretches, hot compresses, and a medium-pressure massage over every aching muscle. As I do with every good massage, I fell asleep for a portion of it, but the technician was kind enough to let me sleep without interrupting me until the very end of the massage.

On the way out, I was advised to let the oils continue to moisturize my skin for a couple of hours before taking a shower. As I got into my car, I was already trying to decide what the next service I’ll try at Tips & Toes will be.
