Londoner Florence Bridge is a graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology in New York who has recently launched her own clothing brand Florence Bridge that caught our eye. Her lover for fashion goes all the way back to when she was a little girl, “when I was four years old I was a bridesmaid for a family friend and I would wear my bridesmaid dress all the time, refusing to wear anything else.” After graduating Florence worked for various luxury womenswear designers in London, including top names such as Matthew Williamson in the embroidery and beading department and then as a production team member for Erdem.

Florence launched her own label which focuses on creating classic dress shapes with an emphasis on luxury fabrics, embellishments and digitally printed silks. All aspects of the brand’s production including the fabric print, manufacturing, and the hand-finished garments are done within the UK- a country she is very passionate about.

“Fashion is important to me (we all have to wear clothes) and I believe clothes have the power to change your mood. Knowing what works for you is the key to a great style, ” says Florence. Her latest AW15 collection is inspired and focused around patterns and textures found in the natural world. “I have explored, interpreted and modified some of my favourite elements into bold digital silk prints and layered them alongside contrast patchwork leather pieces and heavily textured accessories. I always like to create very wearable pieces in all my collections and focus on creating classic shapes to emphasise the luxury fabrics and textures used.”

Another love of Florence’s is travelling to exotic locations and scouting local people to model her clothes, bringing life into fabrics. “One of my favourite shoots was in St. Lucia where I made friends with these two girls Shelly and Frederica. They brought so much energy and were amazing to photograph.”

However,London is still Florence’s favourite fashion city “I love the diversity, the glamour of some parts and the grit of other areas”.
