Typically here in the UAE we are used to brunches with every possible sort of food station and free-flowing beverage we could ever dream of. And who doesn’t know how it feels afterwards – macaroons on top of seafood by the bucket-load, steak and foie gras accompanied by the delicious but high-calorie cocktails sound like dangerous circumstances to ruin your diet or healthy nutrition routine.

If you are watching your waistline or simply prefer green smoothie instead of  champagne, we suggest Saturday Detox Brunch in glamorous atmosphere of Fashion TV Cafe in Downtown. In fact detox brunch on Saturday can be perfect or even necessary after the traditional Friday brunch.

The location is easy to find, parking nearby is available, the dress-code is casual, we’d advise to go fashionably casual.

The food and beverages choice is much more limited comparing to any typical brunch, and there is no buffet in sight. All dishes are served at the table with an option to chose one from two alternatives offered per course. Don’t forget, you are at this brunch to give your body a healthy break.

You start with a cold amuse bouche: either melon and coconut milk shot or marinated cheese with olive and fresh mint. Both options are refreshing appetizers that make you crave for more delicious waistline-friendly food. Next you will get served a roasted beetroot soup or feta raspberry salad with quinoa. Brimming with antioxidants, chilled fat-free soup is a fantastic starter on the hot summer day, that leaves space for the main dish and dessert.

Main course consists of two options: grilled salmon or seared chicken breast. The fish comes with mango and coriander salsa, baked mushroom croquette, cucumber and radish salad with avocado puree. Chicken breast will be served on top of quinoa salad, accompanied by grilled watermelon with honey and pomegranate glaze. Very balanced dishes – boasting superfoods, good carbs, and protein.

You will finish your detoxing gastronomical journey with either granola with yoghurt and fresh fruits or poached peach with a light cashew-caramel creamed dressing.

All in total it was a delightful healthy dining experience, we just wish there would be a background music for more pleasant ambience; and at least one vegetarian main course on offer.
