Internationally acclaimed fashion designer and style icon Alanoud Bader also known as ‘Lady Fozaza’, the queen of blazers, has sat down with Velvet to talk about daring to dream with her latest Jewellery collection from L’azurde and what she enjoys to do when she is not in work mode. With love for fashion that came from a very young age, watching her mother’s lifelong passion for couture, Alanoud describes herself as a, “Designer, Dreamer and Survivor.” Fitting perfectly with her latest jewellery collection collaboration with L’azurde, confessing that the inspiration for the name of the collection simply came from her dream of being a jewellery designer coming true.
“Giving back everything I have learnt over the years is my true mission”
“It was an honor to work with such a reputable company, factory and a team. Designing the pieces allowed me to express myself, and my love for story telling through symbols that mean something different to each individual wearing them. Jewellery is incredibly special and can hold so much sentimental value as apposed to clothes. It’s timeless and can be priceless as a gift, especially when it’s passed on from generations; I love being able to be a part of this through my designs.” So what can we expect from Lady Fozaza’s latest collection you may wonder, “The collection is made up of two parts – Stars and Wings. Both boast stunning rings and intricate necklaces in pink, yellow and white gold with touches of diamonds and a signature emerald piece in every collection.” When asked to describe some of the pieces from the collection, Alanoud told us about the Love, Hope and Faith bracelets which were some of our favorites, “Handcrafted in white, yellow and pink gold with engraved wings on each side carrying a message to new heights. The bracelets are intricately set with two diamond stones and have a single emerald, which is my Lady Fozaza signature stone.”
“The Dream collection is so special to my heart that it resembles my values for freedom, a message to all women to fulfill their dreams, spread their wings and free themselves from all constrains.” Alanoud describes her personal style as, “a bit Rock and a lot of Runway” while noting that it has evolved over the years based on how much she has grown as a person and as a designer, reflecting her journeys and accomplishments. She describes her current mood fort style as, “bold and fierce with a hint of femininity.” If you had a look inside Alanoud’s wardrobe, you’d find her staple pieces include, “ripped jeans, killer heels, a statement handbag and of course a Lady Fozaza Blazer.”
Hearing so much about Alanoud’s latest collaboration we had to ask our February Velvet Girl how she pairs her outfits with her latest jewellery collection, “I love to stack up jewellery which is why the pieces I’ve created in the collection are elegantly simple and compliment one another. Telling a story when worn together and another story when worn alone.”
When not working, this fashion icon can be found, as she puts it, “on the beach or at cinema. The ocean is my escape and source of strength; it’s almost like a recharge. The cinema is a chance for me to live in someone else’s world for a change, and take a break from my own.” When we asked about being considered a fashion icon in the Middle East, Lady Fozaza replied, “I feel blessed to be where I am today; I’ve worked incredibly hard to get here and I believe with hard work you can truly achieve your dreams. I love being a change in people’s lives, a positive voice and influence for women. Giving back everything I have learnt over the years is my true mission”. Lastly when speaking of her inspirations, Alanoud shared, “life experiences and journeys; my style and my designs are a reflection of me, changing as I change and evolve”.
The Dream Collection by Lady Fozaza is exclusively available at L’azurde stores across the Middle East.
