Cutting back on kitchen waste is easy. Really. There are many ways to cut back the rubbish in your kitchen so start right away to create a healthier, better life for yourself and a greener planet

Be Practical 

Instead of choosing a recipe and then shopping for ingredients, take a look in your kitchen cupboards and fridge/freezer first.  See  what ingredients you already have and then find a recipe to use those ingredients. 

So, no earth-shatteringly difficult changes to your life, just a little common sense and forethought will make a big difference. 

Buy in Bulk 

Another smart way to reduce waste in the kitchen is to buy in bulk. Choose food items that you eat often, and then buy the biggest size you can conveniently store. Less unnecessary packaging and much more economical.  

Ditch the Paper

Stop buying paper kitchen towels and napkins and replace them with reusable cloth substitutes. Cut up old towels and sheets, clean cotton t shirts, or buy new cloth versions to wash and use again and again. You will cut down on the amount of waste and certainly reduce the amount that ends up in landfill.

Recycle It! 

Another great way is to recycle as much as you possibly can. Most people know that things like paper, cardboard, glass and some plastics can be recycled, but do a little digging and see what else is recyclable. You may be surprised. For example, did you know that many food and beverage containers can be recycled? Most are marked ‘recyclable’ so look out for them when you shop.
