A Pretty face, perfect figure, and an overall attractive look. These are terms that have been previously used to describe the 90s ultimate Supermodel Cindy Crawford. From Covering multiple Vogue, Harper Bazaar & Vanity Fair spreads to walking endless runways all around the fashion capitals, Cindy Crawford has truly done it all when it comes to the modeling industry. Though people can easily recall her face from various magazine covers, and it is commonly discussed how timeless her beauty is, very few of these people know the real background story behind the women who has become one of the most recognizable faces in the modeling industry.

Born and raised in DeKalb, Illinois, Cindy Crawford grew up in a very traditional, simple Midwestern household. Her parents relied on their monthly checks in order to keep their house afloat. Crawford grew up with two sisters and one younger brother and it’s safe to say she didn’t come from a glamourous lifestyle. Although Crawford recalls her childhood as a happy one, it was when her younger brother Jeff Crawford was diagnosed with leukemia that Crawford’s life took its first turn. Crawford was 8 years old at the time, while her brother was only 2 years old. Cindy recalls this as a very difficult time in her life, her family held on to the hope that her brother’s condition would get better, sadly that was not the case. Her brother Jeff Crawford tragically ended up passing away at the age of three. This extreme change in her family’s life resulted in her parents choosing to get a divorce, which led to Crawford witnessing many incidents where her mother’s financial stability was being compromised. It was at this point in her life that Crawford set out to become finically independent.

For some people, this may come as a surprise, but during her school years the beautiful and charming supermodel Cindy Crawford was the ultimate straight-A student. Crawford graduated high school as valedictorian of her class. Not only that but also she managed to earn a scholarship which gave her the opportunity to study Chemical engineering at Northwestern University, where she went on to study 2 years of engineering.

Crawford originally was discovered in a local competition and started modeling prior to being accepted into college. She kept modeling as a side job during her college years, however as her modeling career started to take off Crawford was faced with the inevitable decision of choosing between her career and her education. Cindy claims that this was a very difficult decision to make considering that she had always been dedicated to her studies. However, the opportunities that were coming her way were too amazing to pass, so Crawford ultimately made the choice of leaving college to pursue modeling full time. From there Crawford’s modeling career started it’s incredible rise, resulting in the legendary model we know today.
