Materials are sculpting, heavy and clean-cut as well as vibrant, transparent and dreamy. Sculpted duchesse denim-inspired jumpsuits, sharp sateen hexagon shaped pockets, chunky vibrant knits embellished with copper cubes, bright melee jacquards in clean, edgy volumes combined with azurite square panels in heavy silk cotton sateen. Colors range from deep azurite blues, rose quarts pinks, onyx blacks, tiger- eye copper/browns and chrome silver greys.

ILJA’s inspirations for her Fall Winter 15/16 collection come from the 90s denim look with cargo-pants, oversized jackets and baggy dungarees as well as the New Look from Dior’s 1947 massive couture impact. Because of the clean cuts and sharp shapes, the overall look also becomes a peek into the future with a wink to Metropolis.

ABOUT ILJA VISSER

The Dutch fashion designer, Ilja Visser, began her career in fashion at the School of arts, ‘Artez’, in Arnhem. During her study in ‘Fashion Design’, she went on to do an internship at Donna Karan and Maria Cornejo in New York, where she discovered her own aesthetic. In 2009, she created her own fashion house on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam, under the name Ilja Visser Group. In 2013, Visser debuted her label ILJA for Haute Couture Week in Paris with a show from her Ikebana collection. The first fashion show was shown in July 2014 in the Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, during the Paris Haute Couture week where the LUMINA collection was presented.
