Gucci hosted a performance during Milan Fashion Week SS19, taken from “to a simple, rock ‘n’ roll song.”, the latest work by choreographer Michael Clark.
The opening act saw a reflection on Erik Satie and his influence on Clark’s mentors and colleagues, past and present. Satie’s music has elicited from them some of their most inventive and strikingly original yet emotionally moving works.
This piece, the dance meticulous and coolly refined, marked the 150th anniversary of Erik Satie’s birth. The second half of the show is an iridescent tribute to David Bowie – intricate, sublime, and joyously rebellious. Set to Music from Bowie’s seminal albums Aladdin Sane (1973) and Diamond Dogs (1974).
In some instances, dancers wore pieces from Gucci’s most recent collections.
Guests at Gucci’s dance performance included President and CEO Marco Bizzarri, Mario Boselli, as well as Carlo Capasa, Barnaba Fornasetti, Maria Luisa Frisa, to Michelle Lamy, Delfina Delettrez, Jerry Stafford and Nico Vascellari.
