Sicily by Dolce & Gabbana: A Tribute to a magical place
Introduced in 2003, the original 'Sicily' fragrance was Dolce and Gabbana's special tribute the the Island of Sicily. Today the new 'Sicily' is revisited by the master perfumer Nathalie Lorson.
The Origin
The Island of Sicily has always been an endless source of inspiration for designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. Introduced in 2003, the original ‘Sicily’ fragrance was their special tribute to this magical place.
Today, the new ‘Sicily’ is revisited by the master perfumer Nathalie Lorson, who composed the original edition. Enriched with noble Mediterranean ingredients, the scent finds its fullest, most sensual expression inspired by the scents cherished by the Designers as a reminiscence of their travels and cultural heritage.
The Fragrance
A citrusy floral essence that evokes the scent of freshly laundered linen drying in the sun, Sicilian Bergamot, delicately cold-pressed from the golden peel, conjures the island’s sun-drenched citrus groves. A solar honeysuckle note adds a touch of sweetness.
In the intensely feminine heart notes, a black rose accord brings out the radiance of a rare Grasse jasmine absolute. Picked at dawn when the blossoms are the most fragrant, this is the headiest variety of jasmine, chosen for its power and sensuality. The powdery scent of heliotrope, blended with a creamy sandalwood essence, evokes Sicily’s delectable almond pastries. The musky drydown hints at darker passions.
The Bottle
Essentially elegant. Inspired by the precious enamel used for the luxurious accessories, the black cap tops the spare, assertive lines of the solid yet refined bottle. A bold black label bearing “Dolce&Gabbana SICILY”, engraved in gold, brings out the scent’s solar radiance. A black velvet coffret, also adorned with the label, holds the weighty glass flacon.
