Like any girl, I am a huge fan of giant, fluttery lashes that make me look like I woke up ready to take on the world without having to put in much effort.
I have been blessed with naturally long lashes, but I always wanted more, so I used to resort to lash extensions. One by one, Russian, strip lashes- you name it, I’ve tried it. Of course, over time, my beautiful long lashes started looking gappy and sparse, and I had to give it a break, even though putting mascara on in the morning and then taking it off at the end of each day just seemed like too much of a hassle.
Recently, I heard about a treatment that’s relatively new called LVL Lash lifting. The treatment, which is available at Tips & Toes salons in Abu Dhabi, promises to give exactly what the acronym stands for- Length, Volume and Lift. It does this by lifting the lash right at the root using a lifting balm to show off its full length, followed by a tint and moisturizer to darken the lashes and give them a thick, fluttery look for up to two months. Just what I need!
Tips & Toes salon and spa is a chain with thirty-two branches across four Emirates in the UAE, delivering a range of luxurious treatments for ladies including hair, nails, body and lashes. I went into my regular branch on Khaleej Al Arabi street in Abu Dhabi, where I was warmly greeted by the therapist who led me upstairs for my LVL treatment.
All in all, the process took about an hour, starting with signing consent forms and reading various care instructions. I was told that the first 24 hours are crucial- so no sleeping on my face, wetting my lashes, or applying mascara. I then lay down (and snoozed), as the technician gently applied the balm, followed by the tint and moisturizer.
Within one hour, my lashes went from long and blah, to long and curled. It looked like I was wearing really good mascara but was certainly more natural than having extensions. If this really does last 6-8 weeks, then I think I’ve found my new go-to lash treatment!
