From 18 to 26 November 2016, Le Carreau du Temple in Paris will host “Hermès hors les murs” *, an itinerant celebration of craftsmanship first created in 2011. At the event, artisans from ten Hermès métiers will meet the public and share their expertise, experience and passion.

At ten dedicated display areas spread out over 550 m2, visitors will be able to discover the talented craftspeople whose hands transform materials into bags, saddles, silk squares, ties, jewellery, watches, gloves and more. The artisans will demonstrate, explain, answer questions and discuss the outstanding technical know-how that is integral to every Hermès métier. In addition, an immersive experience in the form of a 360° film will take visitors on a voyage of discovery into the world of the master glassmakers and cutters at the Saint-Louis crystalworks, which was founded in 1586 and acquired by Hermès in 1989.

A celebration of craftsmanship, this event will give visitors a revised sense of what lies behind the term “craftsperson” and the various techniques associated with it. Throughout the festival, the most curious visitors can also enjoy round-table discussions and workshops for adults and children, in addition to a themed bookshop run by Actes Sud, the Arles-based publishers who have worked closely with Hermès for many years.
