“Kolor is the new black”

Black and white. With the iconic colour combination that has become his signature, Karl Lagerfeld restrains the chromatic palette like no other. However, this season, the designer has decided to have some fun with colour, splashing the most intense shades into an accessory capsule collection.

Introducing Karl Kolor: a series of bags, minaudières, watches, scarves, glasses, shoes and toys in the brightest hues imaginable. Blue, raspberry, green, yellow, purple, and orange pop as they never have like pure flashbulbs illuminating Lagerfeld’s customary black-and-white wardrobe: radiantly colourful pieces that cheerfully enhance the season’s looks.

The simplicity of a shopping bag is amplified in solid pink, orange, sky blue and purple Saffiano. A small removable pouch of the same colour brightens the black leather interior. Quilted leather Kuilted bags and their Mini Cross Body versions also appear in Technicolor. Minaudières and Charms bags – with chain straps spangled with trinkets in various shapes of Karl, Choupette and the house logo – filter pure sunshine onto the wrists and hips of the fashionistas who adopt them.

Sunglasses co-designed with Italia Independent are flocked with blue, green and pink, and sport matching mirror lenses. Orange, yellow and blue espadrilles reveal the Karl logo, while the all-over “karlouflage” prints of oversized cotton scarves take on a new dimension against yellow, red or blue.

Lagerfeld’s watches, still mounted on black steel bracelets, devote half of their dark dials to colour: black/purple, black/pink, black/yellow and black/green are the four available colour combinations (yellow and green being available exclusively in Karl Lagerfeld boutiques).

Even Karl’s illustrious tokidoki gets a new look in blue, pink and purple.

Decidedly, this spring, Kolor is the new black.

Available beginning March 2, 2015.
