By installing the decor for his Paris in Rome Métiers d’art collection at the legendary Cinecittà Studios, Karl Lagerfeld united the glamour of Italian cinema with typical French elegance. To accompany the silhouettes, the designer has created a line of handbags featuring the iconics, the Boy Chanel and models inspired by the 7th Art.

Introducing the Il Quadrato Chanel, an ultra-feminine “box” bag hanging from a delicate shoulder chain and adorned with an octagonal or double C fastening. Available in three sizes and various materials – quilted or embroidered lambskin, python, lizard or tweed – the Il Quadrato Chanel comes in a rich palette of autumnal colours and bears within it the functional and aesthetic exactitude so dear to the House.

The Boy Chanel bag is reinterpreted in herringbone-style velvet or two-tone leather, while the iconic bag comes in pink tweed or embroidered with beads and rhinestone.

With an exquisite sophistication, the evening clutch bags in python, velvet or suede are fastened with precious rings set with black rhinestone, costume gems and natural pearls. And as always at Chanel, practicality is an invisible detail: a zip-up pocket hidden under the flap of each clutch.

Finally, with characteristic humour, Karl Lagerfeld appropriates the most important symbol in film-making, the camera: in black resin, sometimes illuminated with a rhinestone lens, its interior hides a long leather strap that unwinds just like a roll of film.
